HAPPINESS (RED BUBBLE) - China
This is a project about the changes that Chinese society is suffering since the government decided to turn the system starting to erect buildings and new cities without planning a prior infrastructure scheme.
The demolition of ancient neighborhoods forces local families to change their houses for a new life in a purest european style. There are lot of new districts and cities with only a handful of families living there and semi-desert luxury urbanizations where the new rich mix with those who will be the victims of this bubble. Fifteen years ago, the government decided to boost the real estate market by erecting immense numbers of new cities and buildings without prior planning of supporting infrastructure and its immediate effect on the lower class population. The paradox of this issue lies on the families who live in harsh, impoverished conditions when there are more than 64 millions of empty apartments across the cities and to discover not surprisingly those few who prosper from the market speculation – which increase drastically up to 60% since 2005 - that create high social distinction within the communist land.
